Three Former Sumo Wrestlers Busted in Tokyo Gambling Scandal
This is such a cool story, so thank you Tomiko (my Tokyo reader, correspondent) for telling me about it. Here is what she told me. Last week, Japanese police arrested three former sumo wrestlers over a gang-linked gambling scandal that rocked the ancient national sport last year. Sadahide Furuichi, 34, Tetsuya Yabushita, 29, and Shunsaku Yamamoto, [...]

I’m Keeping My Eye on New Jersey, Where Lawmakers Could Make Online Gambling Legal This Week
Once again, money talks. In New Jersey, where the government is facing huge deficits, it seems likely that legislators will go forward with a bill to in effect legalize online gambling. The bill is A-2570. And if I’m not incorrect, it will be debated this week in the state legislature. The online gambling bill is [...]

Someone called me the other day to ask, Hey…how is the gambling bill that would expand gambling in Illinois to include casinos in Danville and four other cities (including Chicago)…how is it going? Chips Ahoy!: Did You See Where Some Dude Ripped Off the Bellagio and Somehow Stole a Reported $1,200,000 in Chips?
This is hard to believe, considering all the security in Las Vegas, but did you see all the news reports about that masked (armed) robber, who stole at least $1,500,000 in casino chips from the Bellagio (one of my favorite haunts) and then hopped on his motorcycle

Sneaking in the Back Door: New Hampshire Allowing “For Profit Firms” to Conduct Games of Chance (That’s Called Gambling, Dude)
Very interesting article recently in a New Hampshire newspaper. Seems like a legalized form of gambling appears to be popping up frequently in communities throughout the state’s seacoast towns. But here is the twist. Charitable gaming has been legal in New Hampshire since 1977. That changed in 2006, when the state legislature voted to allow [...]

Chicago Legislators Mull Expanded Gambling, Including Possible Casinos and Slots at Racetracks
Good news for gamblers (like me). Seems like legislators all over the US are coming to their senses. Particularly after the last election. No new taxes? OK then, how are Governors and legislatures going to balance budgets? Gambling. Illinois Senate President John Cullerton says the odds are good for an expansion of gambling in the [...]
