NFL: Monday Night Football returns

Monday Night Football is always one of the iconic events of the week and a chance to really put yourself into the spotlight. We’ve been delving through the recently released schedule to take a look at what we can expect to see and here are our pick of the Monday Night games that you will see on your screens this year.

Week 2 looks to be an ordinary affair between the Broncos and the Falcons but it will be Peyton Manning’s first post-Colts appearance on “Monday Night Football”, and a game which will take him to Atlanta for only the third time in his career, and all of the interest will be centred on Manning as he plays his one and only indoor game of the season, with plenty of NFL bets set to be placed ahead of kick-off.

Strangely for a team of Green Bay’s stature they only make one appearance on MNF and that comes in Week 3 of the season when they pay a visit to Seattle and the Seahawks. Few venues can rival CenturyLink Field for atmosphere and noise and this will be a tough examination for the Packers especially as they will be facing their ex-back-up quarterback in Matt Flynn who was impressive when he stood in for Aaron Rodgers last season.

Those two games come at the start of the MNF schedule but punters who bet on NFL and MNF in particular will notice that it’s not really until the end that there are a couple of games that really catch the imagination. The first of those is the Chicago Bears visit to the San Francisco 49ers and this could turn into a really physical game of the type that we really see these days – old-fashioned “smash-mouth football”. San Francisco have arguably the best defence in the NFL and they’ll be very keen to make this a tough ride for Bears QB Jay Cutler.

Football is ultimately about personalities and stars and Week 12 sees two of those collide as Cam Newton and Michael Vick go head-to-head in the Panthers at Eagles contest. Both play the game off the cuff and if both of them get loose then be prepared for a wild night of scoring and action.

Monday night is always a night to enjoy the football on offer – and these four should offer some of the best that Monday night’s has to offer.
