Golden Boy Or Pacman?

The fight of the year is almost here – Saturday night, two of the boxing world’s biggest names are going to meet each other in the ring.  They represent two of the biggest rival camps in boxing – Golden Boy and Top Rank.  With only a couple of days left before the big fight, people are making their bets left and right.  Which camp are you putting your money on?

OGPaper compared the odds that two of the most popular online bookies are offering:

Starting with the odds makers at Bookmaker (official website), who have given Oscar De la Hoya the favorite line on the fight’s betting sheet – the odds on De la Hoya to win the fight are currently sitting at -180. Meanwhile the betting odds on Pacquiao to win the fight are underdog +150, much better than initially expected. The bookie is looking forward to a long fight (just as many of us who will pay to see the bout), the odds makers favor the fight to go over 9.5 rounds with line -185, but if the bout fails to reach the 10th round, the sportsbook will pay out on +155 odds.

Bodog Sports, where the odds makers were slightly less generous to De la Hoya. The odds on the Oscar De la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao fight favor the Golden Boy icon at Bodog, as well, but De la Hoya is listed with odds -175, while  Pacquiao is underdog at just +145. This sportsbook has also set the total rounds of the fight at 9.5 rounds. The Bodog Sports is also offering a vast array of additional betting props on the Oscar De la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao fight, here is a small sample: Oscar De La Hoya winning the fight against Pacquiao by KO, TKO, or DQ will pay out on favorite odds 29/20, while Oscar De La Hoya by decision pays on 8/5; the Oscar De la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao fight won’t go distance is favorite with odds -160; Fight won’t go 1:30 round 11 is also favorite with odds -130.

I am putting my money on the underdog.  You can tell me if I am wrong after the fight.
